Today we are looking at Evangeline by the wonderful designer, Kristen Jancuk (and psst, she also designed Catoctin in our Winter 2015 collection)!

Evangeline is a terribly sweet short-sleeved cardigan. Knit from the top down means that there is minimal finishing! The cardigan transitions from garter stitch throughout the yoke, to a lovely and delicate lace design through the body. Button bands are worked only at the yoke. And oh! Those sheep buttons!

For this design we chose to use Dragonfly Yarns Damsel in Conch Shell. Damsel is a sport weight 100% merino. It makes for a light, comfortable (and washable) garment that can still provide a layer of light warmth.

Kristen wrote this pattern for sizes 2-12 years and guess what? Only the largest size uses more than 2 skeins of yarn!

I am a fan of short sleeved sweaters because of their fantastic layering potential. This cardigan can be layered over long sleeves, a sweet dress, or be paired with a tank like on our little model.

I'm looking forward to seeing how other knitters style this for their little one. Please share it on Instagram using #knittinlittle and link it up on Ravelry
