I've been getting a lot of questions about this piece: is it double knit, felted, what?! Here's the scoop. This amazing jacket is knit in two separate pieces then stitched together. Aurelie has included directions to a body that has pockets, and one that has no pockets. So really, if you don't feel like lining pockets you can do two pocketless versions, or just the body with no pockets and no inner jacket. The lining is stitched in very simply with fabric so as not to make the jacket any bulkier. What I'm really hinting at is don't let this scare you! There are so many different options in making this jacket that any knitter with some garment experience can make this.
Even better, Aurelie has provided a ton of support in photos and technique instruction on her blog!
This jacket was knit in Jamieson's Shetland Shetland Spindrift which is a fingering weight wool. Very sturdy, very wooly. The two layers make it reversible or a boy or girls (depending on where the buttons are placed). The sizes give ample room to layer a sweater underneath.
I really REALLY hope someone knits this jacket because not only do I think it is darling, but I'd love to see some other color versions. If that someone is you, please share it on Instagram using #knittinlittle and link it up on Ravelry.
