Several weeks ago Dami of Magpie Fibers posted on Instagram that she'd be hosting a trunk show at The Knot House in Frederick, Maryland. Of course she would have an amazing, special colorway available. Of course, Maryland is too far for me to go for a day trip.
As soon as I saw this amazingly vibrant green (almost an emerald. Gorgeous!) I knew it was meant to be something for Little #2. Aaaand... last weekend I finished Little #2's first sweater!
This pattern is Flax Light by Tin Can Knits. It is a new pattern and addition to their Simple Collection (and free!). I knit the 0-6 month size and used less than 250 yards of yarn! I still have about 150 left to do something fun with (socks? matching baby hat?). I wasn't super keen on the sizing for this sweater and felt like the yoke was a bit too deep. If I were to reknit this, I'd probably spread out the raglan increases as well. Mine had about an inch and a half before separating for the sleeves and it left some weird bulk near the armpits. It did even out after some blocking.
This is a fun and fast knit, with lots of detailed information that would be great for a less experienced knitter. Their worsted weight version has been super popular and seems like a super fun knit as well.
Do you knit sweaters for babies? Have you found a favorite go-to? I'd love to hear about your favorite patterns!
