Getting to Work

Andrea Sanchez

I mentioned a while ago that I'm a year around knitter. One of the ways I've managed this was to find yarns that are more summer appropriate. This means working on projects that either call for lighter weight yarns or yarns made fibers that will retain their cool feeling and not increase the amount your hands want to sweater already in the summer. Some of these would be linen, silk, bamboo, cotton, as well as tencel.

I've been brainstorming a new pattern for you guys and got my hands on some lovely Anzula Vera. This yarn is a linen and silk blend. I love how soft and muted the colors are when dyed on this base. This will definitely make a lovely summer garment. I've already knit a swatch and blocked it and the drape on this will be amazing! I'm excited to get started since I just finished knitting an cabled sweater on bulky weight yarn!

What projects are you starting for summer? Do you have a favorite summer yarn to work with?
